STRENGTH & CONDITIONING ACADEMY7 olympic cycles

Programmes don’t fail.
The why behind them does.

Twenty-three years inside British elite sport, distilled into courses, mentoring and consultancy that change the thinking, not just the writing.

01 · The argument

Anyone can write a programme.

The thinking behind one is what sets us apart.

Most strength and conditioning education teaches exercise selection, set-and-rep schemes and programme templates, then sends you off to work with athletes who don’t fit any of them.

I spent twenty-three years inside the UK high-performance system, working with Olympic, Paralympic and professional athletes. What separates the practitioners who make a difference from the ones who don’t isn’t the library of drills. It’s the questions they ask before they reach for one.

That’s what I teach. The thinking first. Everything else follows.

Work with me directly.

Not everything fits inside a course. When a practitioner, a team, or an organisation needs bespoke support, I offer mentoring and consultancy built on the same philosophy as everything else here.

from practitioners on the record

What practitioners say.

The problem-solving course was led by outstanding and industry-leading experts who designed easily digestible and impactful content spanning key domains of physical preparation. The Zoom discussions provided me with an invaluable experience to network with other practitioners in the industry. I would strongly recommend this course to anyone working in athletic development seeking to continue their development.
Harri StephensSenior Physical Performance Coach · Bath Rugby
Brilliant course , especially as a physiotherapist trying to increase their understanding of strength and conditioning within a rehabilitation context. It was extremely enlightening and thought-provoking, and has sharpened my problem-solving skills to better help the athletes I work with.
Jake MulleyMSK Physiotherapist · Complete PhysioFormerly Academy Rehab Physiotherapist · West Ham United
I'd definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to improve their technical and non-technical skills. The course creates a safe learning environment where practitioners learn through shared experience. The clearly defined principles and attention to detail are second to none , it's opened my eyes on how to guide the process for others.
Greg AspinHead of Strength and Conditioning · Northumbria University
I'm a cricket coach, not from an S&C background, but I'd recommend this course to anyone who is seriously curious about helping those in their charge. It unravels the complexities of the 'why' through a process that's widely applicable , challenges that create opportunities for new discoveries, with real-world application throughout.
Yusuf KaroliaECB L3 Coach Advanced
Thanks to this course I have a clear, concise framework I can refer back to when planning rehabilitation sessions with my players and clients. It gives me the chance to visualise the process before starting , with clear outcomes in mind and ideas on how to achieve them.
Luca FranzoiFirst Team Physiotherapist · FC Südtirol
A fantastic insight into the framework of decision-making used by elite S&C coaches when solving performance problems. The theoretical content is supported with real-world case studies, and the webinars give you the chance to apply the knowledge and principles to your own work , with valuable feedback from others.
Mark NiemzSenior Lecturer in Strength and Conditioning · University of Wolverhampton
An excellent opportunity for S&C coaches and practitioners from other disciplines like physiotherapy to evolve their thinking about the application of S&C for performance and rehabilitation. The blend of lectures and interactive webinars was a fantastic space to discuss real-world performance problems with a range of practitioners and reflect on your own practice.
Ishan Rawlley-SinghPhysical Performance Lead · Elite Sport UAE
What differentiates this from other S&C education is the real-life application and the opportunity to be coached through the problem-solving process. The team are excellent mentors , they tease out the origins of your uncertainties, then either signpost to further learning, offer a different perspective, or reassure you that uncertainty is often inevitable in performance puzzles. Highly recommended.
Simon BrearleyHead of Athlete Development and Rehabilitation · Cranleigh SchoolAlso Strength & Conditioning Coach · DP World Tour
The content for each module is a resource I'll always refer back to. Even though I studied S&C at university, I've picked up a lot on designing programmes and enhancing an athlete's performance. The webinars were great for reflecting and sharing real-life examples with peers. Essential if you're working in a high-performance environment.
Geoff RobinsonHead of Strength and Conditioning · Marlborough College
This course and philosophy will help you think about , and know , your 'why' in your own situation and environment. Thumbs up for the problem-solving approach.
Hrvoje JosipovićHead of Strength & Conditioning in Academy & U19 · HNK Rijeka
The knowledge given in short, concise content is fantastic. It drives a level of thinking that can only move the profession forward.
Matthew SayceRegional Performance Director · 1080 MotionFormerly Lead Academy Strength & Conditioning Coach · Southampton FC
I found the course really good for consolidating my knowledge and taking a better approach to solving problems , using underpinning science, testing and monitoring to aid the decision-making process.
Liam ConnorHead of Performance (Women) · Newcastle United
Working through this process with someone has helped me become more aware of the areas I need to develop in. My reflections have become more specific as a result , and I've started to formulate my own formal and informal processes of reflection and feedback that actually mean something to me.
